The 2022 History Research Essay Scholarship was presented to Jordyn Zurbaran for her paper on the history of Islip Airport, the first municipal airport on Long Island. Jordyn ‘s research traced the history of the airport from its inaugural day in 1928, to its closing in 1945. Through careful research, Jordyn was able to paint a vivid picture of the energy and excitement of opening day.
Jordyn will be attending The State University of New York at Fredonia this fall.
