Amazing Women and How They Got the Vote
Presented by the American Association of University Women (AAUW)
On Tuesday, September 26th, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet and the Islip Public Library co-hosted a presentation by AAUW titled "Amazing Women and How They Got the Vote".  The presentation tells the stories of the courageous militant LI suffragists, including Islip's Louisine Havemeyer, and their political activism as well as the activities of the anti-suffragists.  A new historical marker was unveiled at the meeting in honor of Louisine.
