The History of Quilting in America
Co-Hosted by the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet and the Islip Hamlet Public Library
On Fri., Sept. 23rd, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet and the Islip Public Library co-hosted American Quilter’s Society (AQS) Certified Quilt Appraiser, Dana Balsamo, who offered a special after-hours lecture for adults on the history of quilting in America.

Ms. Balsamo showed examples of quilts and textiles from the 1780s to the present day which were on display in the lecture room.   Some quilts were evaluated for a mock verbal appraisal.

Ms. Balsamo is owner of Material Pleasures, LLC, a New Jersey firm that specializes in antique and vintage textiles.
